What is LOW-E Window Film

LOW-E Film or low emissivity Film is designed to help supercharge the performance of your existing glass. So if you have single pane glass we can convert that to the performance of a dual pane window. If you have a double pane we can convert that to the performance of a triple pane window.

How it works
The way Low-E film works is:

  1. It not only lowers the solar heat gain coefficient or the heat coming through from the sun’s radiation…
  2. It also maintains the temperature better inside the building by holding the ambient temperature inside the building rather letting it radiate out through the glass.

This ability is something that is unique to the LOW-E Film properties and is why LOW-E coatings are in most dual pane windows world wide now. But if you have older windows and you want to get in that type of technology but you don’t want to replace all of your windows, then LowE Film is an excellent way to do that.

Historical Buildings and Aesthetics with Low-E Film
Designers and architects love LOW-E film from Llumar because it is virtually invisible. It is great for historic buildings that don’t want to change the aesthetic for historic reasons or for anyone that just wants a lot of light but a really high performance glass. If you want to retain the heat in the room and we want to simultaneously maintain the aesthetics of the glass.

What about Low-E Film in our area?
Works really well in the very cold climate, high altitude cold climates, where the temperature is dramatically lower outside than inside. The lower the differential between the outside and inside the better the film works. That does not mean it can not be used in a mild area. Classic Sun Control is based in the Sandhills’ area in North Carolina. A lot of people, even in the Sandhills, are utilizing Low-E Film because it does work to maintain the interior temperature of the home.
