What is the difference between a regular Reflective Window Film and a Dual Reflective Window Film?
Dual Reflective (DR) Window Film is a technology that enables us to have a low reflective coating, as the name would imply, on the inside surface of a window film and not on the outside.
Why do you need any reflection to the window film at all?
You need reflectivity that comes from the metals that are vacuum deposited inside the window film. Those metals reject the heat that keeps your home more comfortable and it also helps protect hardwood floors and furnishings because heat is an element that causes fading. So by cooling down the sunlight we are prolonging the life of anything that is in the direct path of the sun in the day. But as a consequence of having metal in the window we can have shiny metal reflection.
Too Shiny?
Not with Dual Reflective Films. For years now we had the technology that basically engineers that shininess out and that gives you a more pure crisp natural view especially at night. As the sun goes down and the dominant light goes from the outside daylight to your interior lighting you will notice an increase in reflection even with clear glass. If you add a regular metalized film to that it is going to amplify that reflectivity.
DR is the solution!
And that is why we have DR Film. On the inside there is a very non reflective look and the other side is very shiny. When this is installed onto the glass, you really don’t see any type of chatter or background reflection. You’ll spend a little bit more to get Dual Reflective Film. DR Film is a great choice for most homeowners.
